You're going to see some changes around here in the next week or two. I'm experimenting with new blogger templates and customizing the Html....so if all goes according to plan, this site will look and lot sleeker and be more functional.

What have I been reading? An ingeniously lonely NYU student grad student engineered a female projection to lie in wait on an empty bed. The 2-D wonder responds to movements on the part of the real bedmate -- "Lie on your back, she snuggles up right next to you in a log position. Curl up in the fetal position, she spoons." But you can't feel her. And yes she remains fully clothed. I wonder who modeled for the part of the girl. [NY Magazine]

Our galaxy looks different than we thought. New findings presented at the 212th meeting of the American Astronomical Society "should force a significant rethinking about how the Milky Way evolved and how its stars formed." Cool. [Science Mag]

And the Vatican acknowledged the possibility of extraterrestrial life. "Writing in the Vatican newspaper, the [Pope's chief] astronomer, Father Gabriel Funes, said intelligent beings created by God could exist in outer space." [BBC]

Oh, plus watch out for tomatoes. [Washington Post]
